Abstract

Studentification, the concentration of student housing and student populations in residential neighbourhoods, is known mainly from British case studies and interviews. This paper reads the complaint records of China’s 12345 citizen hotline for university towns and university-adjacent districts, classifies them into environmental, housing, service and social domains, and tests how they follow the academic calendar and student density. It sets the Chinese patterns beside British evidence from the studentification literature and from housing-market and public data, and compares the two countries domain by domain. The project is at the planning stage, parked until 2027, and no results are available. The author list is not yet agreed.
