Revealed housing demand from ~294 million property-search enquiries (2010–2025), summarised as a family of search-flow indices for each travel-to-work area (TTWA). Choose a year, market, and index to colour the map; choose a TTWA to see where its residents search and who searches into it. Search signals interest, not a completed move; enquirer-location coverage is high from 2018 and thinner before, and England is the reliable canvas.
The nine indices each capture a different facet of an area's search. Outflow is the number of cross-boundary enquiries its residents make about property elsewhere. Inflow is the number of enquiries coming into the area from people who live elsewhere. Retained is the number of enquiries in which the searcher and the property both sit inside the area. The leaving rate is the share of residents' own search that points outside the area. Net-flow, running from −1 to +1, records whether more search arrives than departs, so a positive value marks a net sink and a negative value a net source. Openness is the share of all the area's search that crosses its boundary in either direction. Reach is the mean distance, in kilometres, that residents look when they search beyond home. Concentration, a Herfindahl index from 0 to 1, records whether residents' outward search is spread widely across destinations or funnelled into a few. Search volume is simply the total number of enquiries originating in the area.

"Search to" ranks the areas that residents of the selected TTWA most enquire about; "search from" ranks the areas whose residents most enquire about property in the selected TTWA. Share is of the TTWA's total cross-area flow in that direction.
